Description

1915. Corto Maltese just misses his longtime friend, writer Jack London, in San Francisco. But the writer left him a message, asking Corto to deliver a letter to a certain Waka Yamada, a former saloon star in Dawson City during the gold rush, now a militant against the white slave trade in Alaska. Corto soon finds himself fighting for his life, first aboard a storm-tossed ship, then in the frozen expanse of the Northwest Territories.

Rubén Pellejero and Juan Diaz Canales have created a new entry in the saga of Hugo Pratt's laconic adventurer. While remaining faithful to Pratt's style, Pellerojo adds to his drawings a personal sensibility which shows in the care with which he treats settings and supporting characters.

Long time fans and new readers alike will enjoy this new chapter in the Corto Maltese saga. Benoit Mouchart's introduction examines Corto's legacy and offers historical background for the story.

In French. This edition presents the story in magnificent black-and-white.
