Work on The Little Mermaid began as early as 1939, when Kay Nielsen began preparing inspirational sketches and storyboards for Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tale. This sketchbook contains more than 150 black-and-white sketches as well as 12 color plates featuring the color background studies done in preparation for the film's release in 1989. This is a collector's limited edition of 2,500 copies, with each book containing a numbered certificate of authenticity.
