Description

Entre les lignes (Between the Lines) is a brilliant, heart-rending graphic album inspired by memorabilia left behind by the real-life Julien Lafougere, a young French soldier who died in World War I. Mael imagines the man's story in a series of bande dessinee sequences interspersed with drawings, field sketches, excerpts from training manuals and notebooks, and photographs both of life at the front and of Lafougere's wife, who gave birth to their first child shortly before her husband died in a barrage.
