This monograph spans the entire life and work of Jean-Léon Gérôme and contains a biography of the artist and a catalogue of his paintings, prints and sculptures. This study of the artist's life is based on three original monographs, the contemporary press, and the recollections of students and friends, and is the result of 25 years of research. Approximately 700 paintings and 70 sculptures have been inventoried through archives, old State documents, catalogues and correspondence with collectors.
This version of the definitive monograph has been revised and has an updated annotated catalogue raisonné.
The first 207 pages are essentially in full color. The catalogue raisonné comprising the remaining 200+ pages are in black & white.
