Description

Collects Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen #133-139 and #141 (the first half of Kirby's run). Printed on an uncoated paper stock for excellent color quality-- rich warm flat color.

Because of the paper stock, it looks like the comic book. Collections are often printed on a whiter coated stock than the original comics and the coloring is not adjusted to compensate for that, so the colors are too bright and too garish. The colors here are muted and the overall reproduction looks closest to the original comic books. And that is what I want whether I'm indulging in nostalgia or coming to the work for the very first time.

From the publisher:

One of the most influential writers and illustrators in the history of comic books, Jack Kirby co-created such legendary heroes as the X-Men, the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and the Silver Surfer. In this breathtaking volume by "the King of Comics," Jimmy Olsen's highly popular adventures from the early 1970s are beautifully reprinted. Showcasing his creative genius, Kirby used these monumental stories of Superman and Jimmy Olsen to introduce his Fourth World mythological epic. These groundbreaking tales forever revolutionized the art of storytelling across all genres.

This came from the collection of Steve Sherman, a writer, artist, puppet-maker, puppet-performer, and avid collector. Steve worked as Jack Kirby's assistant, at Filmation, and Sid and Marty Krofft, before forming his own company Puppet Studio in 1984 contributing to "Pee-Wee's Playhouse", "Men in Black 1 & 2", "Mighty Joe Young", "Muppets" and numerous other TV series and feature films.
