Description

The Brizzi Brothers--Gaetan and Paul--graphic novelization of Boris Vian's L'Automne à Pékin (Autumn in Peking).

From the publisher:

You won't find Peking here, or autumn either; instead you'll see a waltz of impromptu encounters between crazy characters in situations funny to say the least, in a remarkable setting. Everyone has come here swept along by odd ambitions, foolish appetites, or mad dreams. A crowd is collecting in the middle of nowhere. Here in Expotamie (a zany country invented by Vian), masks will fall.

L'Automne à Pékin was a droll burlesque novel by Boris Vian, published first in 1947 and again in 1956. During the author's lifetime the book didn't enjoy the popular success of his J'irai cracher sur vos tombes (I'll Spit on Your Graves) or L'Écume des jours (The Foam of Days). However it was bedside reading for the Brizzis. Their graphic adaptation of this poignant, funny novel confirms the modernity of Vian's writing.
