Description

A beautifully drawn graphic novel set in and around the Georges Pompideau Center in Paris, by two creators working in film. Aurélie Herrou comes from the world of cinema. She has always been passionate about contemporary art and, with Le Syndrome de Stendhal, creates her first comic book script. Aurélie was born in Paris and lives and works in Barcelona.

Sagar graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He is a designer in the theater and in animation, especially on the animated feature Chico and Rita directed by Javier Mariscal. Sagar Fornies also creates comics. His latest album Los Vagabundos de la Chatarra was nominated for Best Album at the 2016 Comic Book Festival in Barcelona.

Sagar is a sensitive illustrator of facial expressions and emotions. He also wonderfully recreates the Pompideau Center, the public spaces, and the famous works of art.

From the publisher:

Do not underestimate the power of art

At age 35, Frédéric Delachaise is forced to work for the first time in his life. When he enters the Center Pompidou as a museum guard, he discovers a universe of which he knows nothing and to which he does not understand anything. He first looks at the works he must watch with contempt. But, day after day, insidiously, a strange phenomenon is going to happen ... And Fred will soon become captivated by contemporary art. Literally. A victim of Stendhal Syndrome, Fred is able to project himself mentally into the works he watches. A dive in the heart of creation that will have the effect of opening his eyes to art, and his own existence.

Produced in partnership with the Center Georges Pompidou, which is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year, magnified by Sagar Fornies' warm, round design, Stendhal's Syndrome is a flippant and defiant book that delivers a joyful tribute to contemporary art.
