Every night, two elves secretly help a poor shoemaker by making pairs of shoes, which he can sell in his shop. Very quickly, the shoemaker gets rich. To thank the elves, he decides to offer them clothes.

"At the twelfth stroke of midnight, the elves scampered to the bench. Instead of the usual pieces of leather, are the boots and the clothes. Immediately, the elves put on their presents, singing cheerfully:
We are warm!
We are beautiful!
No more shoes!

"After that night, the goblin fingers never came back. As for the shoemaker, he spent a merry Christmas. Then, he started working like the elves I had taught him: with gusto and imagination. And his shoes continued to sell like hotcakes!"
