Description

Cyrille Pomes is a personal favorite. His first album reminded me of Ronnie del Carmen. This new album is rendered in soft pencil and along with swooping "Tomb of Dracula"-esque angles and compositions reminds me of Gene Colan. The story is dialogue dependent, but the artwork is incredible.

The publisher's description:

"Sorties de route" is a roadside story, following the daily existence of Lindley, owner of a chip stand. Beyond his function as a seller of sandwiches for holiday travelers - and local regulars - Lindley silently observes, walks, dreams.

He is escaping a painful past, a loss, on board his truck.

Lindley's routine changes when a motorist strikes a tree just meters from his truck and dies there.

Shortly after a bouquet of flowers is placed at the foot of the tree, a bouquet which will be replaced each time its last flower wilts.

And the bouquet will close one by one the windows of Lindley's escape, to confront reality.

That is to say to himself."
