The creators of Les Cités Obscures offer us their vision of Paris in the future.
February 2156. Kârinh was born in the Ark, a space colony established by a group of former Earthlings who cut all ties with their home planet. The girl has always dreamed of this Earth, and especially Paris, the city she has seen in books. So she readily agrees to man the Tube, a spaceship en route to Earth, carrying a dozen bodies in hibernation.
But will Kârinh's increasingly frequent hallucinations--her fantasies of the city--impede the success of her mission? And above all, will the the XXII century City of Light she meet her expectations?
Schuiten and Peeters set aside their exceptional "Les Cités Obscures" for a future anchored in reality, without abandoning the tribute to the visionaries and utopians of the late nineteenth century which they have specialized.
